Portuguese fashion designers presented this week at Paris Fashion Week "Ready to Wear" their women collections Fall 2012/2013.
Fátima Lopes, Luis Buchinho and Felipe Oliveira Batista were the elected designers from Portugal to perform on the fashionable French runways with unique and various trends which were recognized worlwide by the press. Undoubtly, Portugal has talent!
Fátima Lopes - "RUTHLESS WOMEN"
Fátima opened Paris Fashion Week "Ready to Wear" with a representation of human morphology with blood-red dress inserts, shredded leather sleeves and prints of the venous system in the iconic monument that was built for generals wounded in French imperial wars.
This look accentuated the frailty of the tiny-boned models as Lopes loves to do, which already represents her signature as a designer. When the show ended, the crowd departed sheepishly through the courtyard, with 40 huge canons pointing straight at them.
Backstage the designer said: "Yes, I make tiny shoulders and waists. But this is not weak. It's feminine and sexy, therefore strong". It is clear to all fashion lovers that her design pieces are a truly inspiration and a signal of strength to all women.
Luis Buchinho - "The Patriotic"
The designer who lives in Oporto got inspired by the characteristic portuguese cobblestone to create his Fall/Winter 2012/2013 collection, his inspiration came from a book based on the subject."I did not want to be nationalistic, but it's something we have and that is so beautiful ... Why not?". He said at the end of the parade at the Centre National des Armées. With a palette of blues, blacks, grays and whites, and materials such as silk, wool and polyester, Buchinho did an exercise in editing his work. "I felt the need to reduce my ideas to their essence."In line with what was already happening in the last two collections, the designer opted for a more refined, with very elegant and feminine silhouettes that might surprise some of his followers, but that sounded to a new level in his creative process. In the end, Louis Buchinho also announced the opening of a second store in Portugal and a new showroom in Porto. After all, in times of crisis we must take risks.
Felipe Oliveira Baptista - "The print lover"
The portuguese designer bet on graphical clothes with a sportive touch to his next winter season collection for 2013. The designer, who is also creative director of Lacoste, had many items made of leather, from suits to sweaters and leggings. The color blocking resurfaced in isolated pieces, such as skirts and dresses. Some looks invested in the mixture of materials, a trend of the season, and was featured zebra print. Although stiff, the collection won feminine touches with deep necklines and discreet slits in skirts. Point for uncomplicated gowns that closed the presentation of Philip: desirable and very commercial.
